The World I Breathe
Dylan Thomas: The World I Breathe: A documentary made in 1968, produced and directed by Perry Miller Adato.
John Malcolm Brinnin, Dylan’s American agent, and one of his biographers, narrates this portrait of the Welsh poet in photographs (some of which were taken by the celebrated photographer, Rollie McKenna), recorded excerpts from Thomas’ works and interviews with friends.
Among those featured are Dylan’s first girlfriend, Pamela Hansford Johnson, American poet Robert Lowell, and Dylan’s childhood friend, the artist, Mervyn Levy. Nancy Wickwire and Sada Thompson, who starred alongside Dylan in the first full stage version of Under Milk Wood (New York, May 1953), also share their memories.
The programme won an Emmy for Best Cultural Documentary. Running time: approximately 60 minutes.
