Uplands in Swansea is truly Dylan Thomas country, it survived the 1941 Swansea Blitz mostly intact. Join author, poet, historian and Dylan biographer Phil Carradice and Dylan’s granddaughter Hannah Ellis on a no-holds-barred walk around his childhood and early career haunts, from his birthplace at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive, to his old schools, friends’ homes, an early radio recording studio and the eponymous Cwmdonkin Park, to enjoy an ice cream. The day will end with a trip to the National Waterfront Museum’s Dylan Thomas trail, when Professor M. Wynn Thomas and Dr. Kirsti Bohata will address why growing up in early twentieth-century Swansea resulted in so many outstanding writers.
